Registered Agent Services

Virginia Registered Agent is a person or company designated to receive or accept legal documents and state notices on behalf of your business during normal business hours. Legal documents that may be received include Service of Process, such as a subpoena or summons. Examples of state notices sent to the registered agent include annual reports and tax notices.

Per §13.1-1015 of the Code of Virginia, all business entities in the Commonwealth of Virginia are required to have a registered agent, sometimes referred to as a resident agent, with a physical street address in Virginia (no PO Boxes addresses allowed). This allows proper tracking of all legal mail in Virginia.

Conciliation Services

Conciliation is a voluntary, consensual, non-binding process in which a Neutral facilitates conflict resolution by clarifying issues and serving as an intermediary for communication between the parties.  While conciliation is a form of mediation, it is generally more informal and less structured than mediation.  Conciliation can often have a focus toward relationship building between the parties, who might not be in a legal dispute, but rather need to take preventative measures before a bigger dispute arises.

Silver Star Associates works with law firms and organizations of all sizes, including attorneys, in-house counsel and C-level executives, to provide top-quality Alternative Dispute Resolution services for even the most complex of matters.

Settlement Conference Facilitator

A Settlement Conference (“SC”) is a voluntary, collaborative process intended to assist disputing parties in negotiating a legally binding solution to their disputes. It is facilitated by a Settlement Conference Facilitator (“Facilitator”). The process is informal. The parties may discuss with the Facilitator and the other parties the factual and legal issues and any other matters that they deem pertinent. All parties will have a full opportunity to be heard. The parties or their representatives should have authority to agree to a legally binding solution. The parties are not required to reach a settlement. Any of the parties may terminate the SC at any time prior to reaching a settlement. However, if the parties do reach a settlement and execute a written agreement, the agreement is enforceable in the same manner as any other written contract.

Settlement conferences can be convened by agreement at any time where there are matters to discuss, and can be a quick and less expensive option to resolve issues with out court involvement.
